Personal Quote: Art is not something you make, it is the action of making.

A Statement of my most recent project:

For this project I have carried a previous theme forward and attempted to expand on the thoughts generated in past work. The concept of reality and what is real is a very loose thing and our perceptions and experiences colour the way we see the world around us. Is the colour you see the same as the colour I see? What is right by your standards and what is wrong? If an object moves beyond your ability to perceive it, does it still exist?

These are all very broad questions; ones that I found it were difficult to solve in a small series of artworks. Therefore for this project I have narrowed the questions down to the theme of dreams and whether what we perceive there is real.

In these photographs I have attempted to recreate a series of separate dreams that I have experienced over a period of time. The pieces are entirely separate and are not linked in any way; therefore I have attempted to demonstrate this with layout, size and placement. Test 1 and Test 2 are connected merely because the dreams they portray occurred back to back to seem to have no other correlation. The pieces are entitled Test 1, 2, 3 and 4 because to my eyes they are experiments in a much larger and longer running project theme, and while they are entirely separate, should be treated as part of an experimental stage that will culminate at the end of the year.
Having posted up a series of photographs that I thought were mediocre at best; I was surprised to find that nearly all were immediately favourited. This got me thinking about why I considered them to be worth so little. It didn't take me long to find the answer, which has led me here because the phrase sang so true in my ears that I had to write it down. And what reason have I to write things down if not to share them?

Therefore without further ado, todays quote: Why are these pieces worth so little to me? 'Because the pieces aren't half as interesting as the journey that made them.'

Sincerely Drake.
